Welcome Message

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Together with our member societies, the Czech Psychiatric Association and Slovak Psychiatric Association, WPA is thrilled to invite you to the 25th WPA World Congress of Psychiatry in the enchanting city of Prague, Czech Republic, from October 5-8, 2025.

There has never been a more critical time to explore “The Role of Psychiatry in the Changing World.” With the dynamic shifts and unprecedented challenges we face globally, mental health remains at the forefront of healthcare priorities, demanding innovative and comprehensive approaches that encompass evidence-based treatment, prevention, and the promotion of self-help and healthy lifestyles.

It is my honor to welcome you to the 25th World Congress of Psychiatry (WCP 2025), set against the breathtaking backdrop of Prague. From October 5-8, 2025, we will transform this historic city into a hub of psychiatric excellence, where the WPA’s 2023-2026 action plan will guide our discussions and collaborations, emphasizing our unwavering commitment to enhancing mental health and well-being worldwide.

Our Congress will feature the ‘Specialist Corner,’ fostering insightful dialogues between our members and leading experts across various psychiatric fields. From tackling psychosis, affective disorders, substance use disorders, and ADHD, to addressing contemporary issues such as internet addiction, our specialists will provide invaluable perspectives. Beyond professional engagement, we are dedicated to making educational materials accessible to patients, families, and the public, breaking down barriers to knowledge and understanding.

The promotion of Healthy Lifestyles is a cornerstone of our action plan, with a spotlight on physical activity, sleep, and nutrition. Recognizing the intricate connection between mind and body, we aim to empower individuals, particularly adolescents, with the resources they need to thrive in today’s fast-paced world.

Our commitment to Research is steadfast, as we explore the impact of healthy lifestyles on mental health and engage in international studies on suicide prevention. Our dedication to advancing knowledge and improving outcomes remains resolute.

Collaboration is the heartbeat of our mission. The Advisory Committee on Response to Emergencies (ACRE) will continue its vital work, and we will seek to forge stronger partnerships with international psychiatric and mental health organizations.

Prague, with its rich cultural heritage and stunning architecture, offers a unique and inspiring setting for WCP25. As we delve into global mental health practices, this vibrant city will remind us of the importance of adaptable and culturally sensitive strategies. Prague’s resilience and charm will undoubtedly enrich our discussions and collaborations.

Join us for an extraordinary event where the world’s leading psychiatrists and thought leaders will come together to learn, share, and network. With a blend of cutting-edge scientific discussions, invaluable networking opportunities, and the captivating allure of Prague, WCP2025 promises to be an unforgettable experience.

We eagerly look forward to welcoming you to Prague in October 2025!

Warm regards,

Professor Danuta Wasserman
